About Afretech
Rural African schools are desperately short of the most basic
of educational resources: textbooks, pencils, readers, encyclopedias
- and few African students can dare to dream of access to the
world of information and communication offered by technology.
Afretech is a non-profit society with full charitable status
dedicated to providing the necessary materials and equipment rural
African schools need to properly educate their students. The
impact on the students and teachers receiving these resources
is phenomenal. They are awestruck at receiving supplies they had
never dreamed of having and at the sudden opportunities now within
their grasp; the gift is pure gold: a special window of hope and
the promise of a real future. If these countries in the Developing
World are ever to participate in the global village, then their
young people must acquire certain knowledge and develop the specific
skills demanded by the new economy. Education is not just the
answer - it is the ONLY answer!
Afretech collects discarded texts, library books, and other
school supplies, sorts them and boxes them for shipment to
Africa. Additionally, donated computers are checked out,
extra RAM added where appropriate, and suitable donated software
included where possible. The resulting shipments contain truly
valuable resources capable of transforming struggling schools
into institutions of learning.
